V 37 steering wheel design

Technical illustration,
scale 1:1, mixed media (not airbrush) on illustration board
V 37 was probably the first steering wheel in the world featuring a plastics structure and a moulded over soft polyurethane lining; respect of ABYC standards make this wheel an international product.
Extensive tests proved the wheel to be satisfactorily operative even after severe impacts that could break the very structure, which nonetheless continued being protectively enclosed by outer lining.
The aesthetic appearance of this wheel is not, and it can't be, a revolutionary or a very characteristic one, as such products are to be installed onboard leisure boats that don't match a standard type, and therefore shall be easily adapted inside an existing aesthetics.
In this project all aspects were cared for, aesthetic and technical ones, including executive design and assistance to dies manufacturing; the wheel is still in the catalog, in derived versions as well, with good sell results.

Original Ultraflex folder: V 37 steering wheel
Illustration was used in folder instead of a photograph as molds were still being manufactured at that time.
A steersman holds his wheel firmly for hours, so the wheel is to be friendly, comfortable and safe.
This wheel, which underwent hard tests according to ABYC standards, proved to be a good mate for every kind of pilot.
